biography
Mouhssine was born in Casablanca to a family of stage artists. His father is one of the founders of Moroccan professional theatre. Mouhssine started to work as a technician in the family theatre company and performed as an actor and stage director, participating with them in many theatre productions, radio and TV series in Morocco.
Later he studied in Belgium filmmaking and multicamera tv broadcast at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion (Institute of the Broadcasting Arts – IAD), where he got his master in 2002. His graduation film, “Brûleurs de frontières” (“Frontiers burners”), taking a bitter-sweet look at illegal emigration in his home town Casablanca, took part to several festivals and broadcasted on Canal Plus.
Mouhssine worked as an assistant location manager on various television films in Belgium, as first assistant director on acclaimed films shot in the South of Morocco like Babel, 13 Hours, Billy Lynn’s long half time walk or more recently John Wick Chapter 3 Parabellum.
In 2007 he also joined the RTBF (Belgian national radio and tv), where he has directed multicamera broadcasts like Au quotidien, Mise au point, 69 minutes sans chichis, On n’est pas des pigeons.
